Back in my day...after some fun white 4 wheel drifting in the Subie, the snow/ice mix got the wheel balance so far off the car was undriveable.

I went to Wausau during the polar vortex last year. There was a ton of snow on the ground and a bunch got in the wheels of my GTI. It was crushed into ice and quite off balance on the way home. After about an hour I stopped to try to clear it out and was pleasantly surprised that it had softened, I guess from normal tire and brake rotor heat.
